I've used SportTracks for about 10 years, but prefer a Mac to a PC, and with ease transferred all my data via fitlogs to rubiTrack about a year ago. For example, I don't like the WKO interface (or the complexity of TrainingPeaks) and while Golden Cheetah is much better than rubiTrack for training analysis with power meters, it lacks some features I want or need (equipment log, weather data, for example). They are all very good, and I would rate all at 4 stars in that they safely and securely hold my data and give me adequate to outstanding training analysis, but all have at least one strength over the others so none can get 5 stars for being totally comprehensive.

So for top class offline training logs, in my opinion that leaves WKO, SportTracks, and Golden Cheetah on the PC, or Golden Cheetah and rubiTrack for the Mac. I do use Strava and GC, but not to hold all this data. And first off, though some may find websites satisfactory to hold all their data they are not practical for me because I have all my training data from 1994 (including gps data from 2006, hr from 2010, power and cadence from 2012) which I want kept safe and readily available offline.

This review will more or less ignore the price - everyone can make up their own mind as to whether they are willing to pay it, same as for all software.

RUBITRACK 5 SOFTWARE

I look forward to future updates do hope that others try this software and consider what value it could add to their training etc. The developer feedback on the forums is excellent and it is clear to see where suggestions/ ideas of users have made it into minor and major updates. I think it is all too easy to forget that complex and feature rich programs such as RubiTrack must take a huge number of hours to write and maintain and that the number of end users has a large impact on the price per seat.

In the scheme of cost of the Mac required to run the program on, the GPS device (or iPhone etc) required to record the data and the, shoes, bikes, boats and boards used whilst recording the data the cost of this software is well worth it for the value it adds to the enjoyment of all of the above.

The latest version of rubitracks had added a very large number of features and improvements, which I would strongly advise trying in a trial, the Places feature is particularly interesting as it can show all ones activities across a global map, this is not only 'nice' to see where you've been but can help to find long lost walks etc that can be hard to find otherwise.Īs others have said everyone has their budget and concepts of what something is 'worth'. I like my gadgets and now wouldn't go anywhere without a GPS watch, the process of logging and organising my data and reviewing my progress/ improvements is a 'hobby' in itself which I very much enjoy- for me knowing that I've ridden my road bike exactly 4463.57km or I've used my 12m kite for 95hours and 4 minutes for instance is very valuable and I use rubitracks as the sole repository for this data. For myself as a mac user Rubitrack is the only solution I have found that lets me maintain my activity history of 2800+ tracks, it provides the tools I need to review, organise and track a very wide range of sports and activities and the equipment associated with each.
